Armada Club will be in San Francisco for Tech Week, from Monday 5 to Sunday 11 October 2026. The team is available for private meetings about membership, the fleet and partnership.

Tech Week has no venue and no stage. It is a week of separately hosted events across the city, presented by the venture firm a16z. This is a guide to the week and to the city around it.

When is San Francisco Tech Week 2026?

San Francisco Tech Week runs from 5 to 11 October 2026. Los Angeles Tech Week follows directly, from 12 to 18 October.

How does Tech Week work?

Startups, investors and community groups each host their own events and list them on the official calendar. There are pitch nights, workshops, hackathons, founder dinners and panels, and a great many evenings that are none of those.

There is no single ticket. Some events are free with an RSVP, some are ticketed and some are by invitation, so each listing has to be checked on its own.

How big is the week?

The official calendar listed 1,597 events for San Francisco on 2 October 2026. Of those, 1,118 were tagged AI. The count changes as hosts add events.

How did Tech Week start?

The first Tech Week was held in Los Angeles in 2022. Katia Ameri of a16z, who founded it, has said the firm was investing more in Los Angeles as founders spread out after the pandemic.

That first week drew 16,000 sign-ups in a few weeks. San Francisco and New York followed.

Which events are worth knowing about?

A few of the larger ones on the official calendar:

  • Monday 5 October: the official kickoff in Mission Bay, hosted by Fireworks, Stripe and Vercel
  • Tuesday 6 to Thursday 8 October: Claude Founder House in SoMa, hosted by Anthropic
  • Tuesday 6 October: the AI pitch competition hosted by AWS Startups and NVIDIA Inception, Downtown
  • Wednesday 7 October: Google for Startups sessions with NVIDIA, in SoMa

Each has its own registration.

Where in the city does it happen?

Events gather in three neighbourhoods: SoMa, the Mission and the Embarcadero. They are far enough apart that two events in a row in different neighbourhoods rarely works. Plan each day around one of them.

BART, Muni and Caltrain connect the three. Allow extra time at rush hour.

What else is on the bay that week?

San Francisco Fleet Week is scheduled for 4 to 12 October 2026, so the two weeks overlap. The US Navy Blue Angels are due to fly in the air show, which is staged over the bay between the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. It begins on Friday 9 October.

The Parade of Ships is also on Friday 9 October, along the waterfront. Ship tours are at Piers 35 and 27.

Performers and times are subject to change. Check the Fleet Week schedule before planning a day around it.

What to do in San Francisco between events

The Embarcadero runs along the water and is the best walk in the city. Start at the Ferry Building, which was built in 1898 and still works as a ferry terminal under its clock tower. Inside is a food market. Outside, the farmers' market sets up on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and Saturday is the one to see.

Hog Island Oyster Co., inside the Ferry Building, serves oysters with a view of the bay. Pier 23 Café has a patio on the water further north.

Pier 7 is a wooden pier with a clear view of the Bay Bridge and the downtown skyline. The Exploratorium, the science museum, is at Pier 15. The sea lions are at Pier 39, on the floating docks.
